Web 3.0

There is a buzz generating enough interest in Web 3.0. A few years ago Web 2.0 came into existence with the evolution of social network sites. The Internet of today boasts of nearly 150,000 social network sites. This is phenomenal growth is phenomenal, just three years ago; the number of social network sites was under 1,000.

It seems that the Internet has become version-based. The growth rate of World Wide Web has outpaced the growth rate of human population. The population of the earth is reaching nearly 7 billion, and the Internet already has nearly 2 billion people accessing the Internet, and Internet just came into existence 20 years ago!

Web 3.0, the term coined by the father of Internet, Tim Berners Lee is going to change the way people communicate. Web 3.0 is going to wipe out the thin line that divides the real and an online world. Web 3.0 is going to be instrumental in changing the way people perceive the things with the combination of real world knowledge and computer-generated information. This fusion is going to result in sharing of knowledge that will be collected and sorted intelligently by the computers. Web 3.0 is all about cutting edge tools that will assist in leveraging the knowledge infrastructure.

If Web 2.0 is about sharing the user generated content, Web 3.0 is about processing of natural languages by machines that will help in learning and logical reasoning. Web 3.0 is all about openness, whether it is the application programming interface or open platform, Web 3.0 is going to be more open and transparent. It is going to be about open identity and reputation on the Internet. Web 3.0 will empower users to change the applications in the way they want to feel. Web 3.0 is going to be about integration of technology into human life.

Web 3.0 is about personalization it is going to change the way the user reads the content. Web 3.0 will deliver the content to the user after careful study of his behavior. This is in contrast of today’s Web where the user has to look and search for content. Web 3.0 is about creating a virtual world with each user having his identity in the form of avatars. Web 3.0 is about communication revolution in a simulated environment.

Web 3.0 is going to make technology smarter and efficient than today. It is going to be the fusion of real and virtual world.
